Ban Assault Weapons NOW

In his caption, Ibram X. Kendi asks,

“When did Republicans end the national ban on assault weapons?”

The red line on the graphic above marks the year that the ban on assault weapons expired.

This is not complicated.

We have banned assault weapons before and fewer people died when we did.

This is undisputed.

What am I missing?

Why do civilians need or even want military style weapons? I’m asking. For real. Can someone explain this to me?

While I wait for answers, I will call my representatives.

The people I go to for guidance are March Fourth, Emily in your Phone and Sharon Says So. They are all great resources but I am currently following March Fourth’s scripts as they are focused on banning assault weapons specifically and this is what seems like the most logical first step to me.
