I had breakfast with a friend today and we got talking about decision fatigue. It is everywhere and it is exhausting. Before sitting down to write, I googled ‘decision fatigue’ for a definition or an image to use at the start of this post and there were so many choices that I closed the tab.
Point made right?
Every time we chose something, we are not choosing a gazillion other somethings. Then we, or at least I, am left wondering what I am missing. I tend to make the bigger choices more easily. It’s the little ones that trip me up and many of them have to do with the media I love to consume.
Which book do I read?
Which podcast do I listen to?
Which show do I watch?
I know that I am lucky to live in a time of choice but am I? How much brain space do we all take up making each of these decisions every single day? Would we all be less tired if we were making fewer decisions each day?
Believe it or not, I do not have a great system for keeping track of what I want to read, listen to or watch. As a result, I buy more books than I need to make sure I don’t forget about them. I subscribe to so many podcasts that opening my podcast app is super overwhelming. And don’t even get me started on streaming services.
So… let’s brainstorm together shall we? How do you keep track of everything you want to read, listen to or watch?
I can’t wait to hear all your ideas!
