Hi All,
The other day, I was out and about running errands picking up on all the rush and frantic energy that the world puts out the week before Christmas. As I sat at the light near our train station, I looked to my left and there was a little boy and his mom standing still- in stark contrast to how I felt the rest of us were moving. A train had just pulled into the station and he was holding his mom’s hand with one hand while pointing at the train with the other. I couldn’t see his face but it was easy to imagine the joy he must have been feeling.
Going in to these last days of 2023, I am going to try hard to remember this train loving little guy who I think would probably want me to slow down a bit and look around for things to love.
But… before I do that- it’s time to share what I have been reading, listening to and watching this week. There was lots of good but most noteworthy is that I actually watched something in addition to Grey’s Anatomy!
I was nervous to watch Leave the World Behind because I loved the book and I didn’t want the movie to ruin the book for me. Interestingly, at first I did think I hated the movie- the ending especially. But.. after listening to Julia Roberts and director Sam Esmail on the Big Picture podcast, I think I might have actually loved it? One thing that Esmail said that I found particularly interesting is the fact that in his mind, adaptations should be very different than the source material because the adaptation is in a different medium. Why have I never thought of that before?!
So… I am really curious. Have you watched Leave the World Behind and if so, what are your thoughts?! Please share!
xo,
Stacey
