Hey Stacey! I think it can be kind of difficult to find alternative perspectives on Sold a Story because Emily Hanford has made such a business out of whipping up reading war frenzy and she's good at making the complexity of what it means to be a whole human seem like it can be navigated with the right curriculum - because we of course all wish it were that easy (though she only ever seems to complain about the $ made by Lucy Calkins - not by the companies producing scripted phonics curriculum - who are just selling a different story - I mean why focus on the $ at all if not all the $?) -- I'd love to know your thoughts and experience -- and whether you've found interesting other perspectives on this or the history and politics behind it... love your lists - whatever day they show up in my email. And this is a pretty good recent overview of the Reading Wars, I think - https://soundcloud.com/haveyouheardpodcast/reading-wars?si=671c2ebf5a86432cb43f2596f0a6c2c0&utm_source=clipboard&utm_medium=text&utm_campaign=social_sharing
