Hi All
In a world that feels full of mean and thoughtless people these days, I am so grateful to be a book person who spends so much time surrounded by fellow book people. On Wednesday night, Ali, owner of Dear Reader, and I hosted an event that brought together a room full of such people. Twenty-ish people, some friends, some strangers, all got together and shared books they had loved reading. People found common interests and new thoughts to explore. There were lots of laughs and even a few tears among this group that had never come together before. This is what a shared love of books can bring- a community that forms within minutes of meeting.
It was just the reminder that I needed. That there are so many more good people in the world than mean ones. And also, that people who read tend to be not only wise but empathetic. There will be more events like this one and I can’t wait.
Here’s to more gatherings of book people- it’s one thing the world needs more of these days.
In the meantime, what I am reading, watching and listening to is below. And please share what you are loving these days in the comments.
xo,
Stacey
