Hi All!
Just the other day, I was feeling badly that I was in a bit of an audio book slump and wondering why. Well- good thing I write these newsletter because my answer is below both in the long list of podcasts I have been enjoying lately and in one podcast specifically.
I don’t listen to The Critics at Large podcast as regularly as others but when I do listen, their episodes always get me thinking. This week, I listened to their episode titled “Our Modern Glut of Choice.” And isn’t that the truth. Open your podcast app. Turn on Netflix. Open your audiobook player. Sit down with your Kindle. And the whole entire world of entertainment is at your literal fingertips. Sometimes this is exciting. But just as frequently, this is overwhelming. I will often spend an awful lot of time deciding what to read, watch or listen to. Sometimes, I spend so much time in the deciding that I don’t end up doing much of the actual thing. I wish The Critics at Large had a solution to this situation but alas, they did not. That said though, their conversation allowed me to give myself a bit of grace. There are a lot of decisions to be made and sometimes not making a decision is a decision in itself.
As always, I have shared what I am reading, watching and listening to below. And also as always, please comment below what you have read, watched or listened to lately.
xo,
Stacey

A SINGLE MAN
(2010; 1h 40m; R; US) is based on the novel of the same name by Christopher Isherwood. Set in Los Angeles in 1962, at the height of the Cuban missile crisis, it is the story of a British college professor (Colin Firth) who is struggling to find meaning to his life after the death of his long time partner. The story is a romantic tale of love interrupted, the isolation that is an inherent part of the human.
