Start As You Mean To Go On

“Start as you mean to go on.”

This phrase came to me earlier this morning. I have searched for its origin and can’t find a definitive answer so we’ll move on without it. And perhaps, this is just the right way to begin 2022…

I plan to share my writing more publicly again this year. I have missed doing so. I have missed the rhythm of regular writing. I have missed sharing and talking about my thoughts with others. I am in a ‘full on overthinking spiral’ in regards to what this public sharing will look like but when “start as you mean to go on” came to me this morning, the message was clear- get over yourself and just put something out there.

And I suppose the fact that the origin of this phrase is unclear is just about perfect. Is anything really clear these days? Nope. But must we continue on anyway? Yup. So that is what I am doing here- putting words out there in the public and quoting an unknown source. And for now… that is all.
