Hi All!
The picture above could be crisper but I had to include it here because it is evidence that Spring is springing!! After spending a few days in Florida with Caroline this week, I was reminded that living in the sunshine and warmth makes me happy and I am ready for our weather in NJ to turn!
Here’s my weekly reading, listening and watching and as always, please share yours in the comments or by replying to this email!
And also- have you seen Tar? If so, please see my note below and let me know your thoughts!

Stacey

I watched Tár, I loved it -- it might be my personal favorite for best picture this year. I read the article, and while I understand where she's coming from, I take a different view. I'm not sure I'll articulate this correctly, but I think some of the work of equality for women is to portray all versions of women, the good and the bad. Lydia Tár is a complex character, and regardless of gender, I saw this as a story about someone with a huge ego and a truly terrible boss, both things that you don't always get to see a woman portray. There's also the side of in general, we don't hear the stories of sexual harassment or abuse (not in this instance but thinking of Carmen Maria Marchado's In the Dream House), coming with women as the perpetrator, and I thought this was an interesting take on that story.
