I watched Tár, I loved it -- it might be my personal favorite for best picture this year. I read the article, and while I understand where she's coming from, I take a different view. I'm not sure I'll articulate this correctly, but I think some of the work of equality for women is to portray all versions of women, the good and the bad. Lydia Tár is a complex character, and regardless of gender, I saw this as a story about someone with a huge ego and a truly terrible boss, both things that you don't always get to see a woman portray. There's also the side of in general, we don't hear the stories of sexual harassment or abuse (not in this instance but thinking of Carmen Maria Marchado's In the Dream House), coming with women as the perpetrator, and I thought this was an interesting take on that story.

This is so interesting and I am so sorry it took me so long to respond to this comment. Now I am wishing I had finished before tonight's Oscars! And how powerful was In the Dream House- I haven't thought of that read in awhile and it was such a good one.
