I wrote this poem to express how I have been feeling

Moral Compass

Gasping for air,

My breaking heart races

Keeping time with the wailing

Bereft Mamas

Babies

orphaned

taken hostage

Silent, burned out homes

littered with corpses

stop my heart

Shatter my equilibrium

Fine lines are drawn

Eye for an eye

Mired in escalating blame and revenge

Moral certainty washed away

by the blood of the innocents
