I am watching and loving The Last of Us, listening to The Daily and Smartless, and Reading Sworn to Silence. The book was an old rec from you. It pulled me out of my reading funk and has kept my attention!
Oh I loved Sworn to Silence! I am reading another good mystery/thriller called The Owl Always Hunts at Night which is the second in a series by Samuel Bjork- definitely darker than the Linda Castillo books but really good if you are up for it!
I recently finished the 1959 epic novel Exodus by Leon Uris, about the time after the end of WWII and the creation of the state of Israel. It was intense, and when I told my parents I was reading it, they offered to watch the movie with me, apparently it's very good (with Paul Newman and Eva Marie Saint.) I'm now listening to Good Morning, Monster: A Therapist Shares Five Heroic Stories of Emotional Recovery. (Not sure how this landed on my TBR list...I wish Goodreads had a Notes field where we can indicate who recommended it or why we want to read it.) It is FASCINATING!
These are both new to me titles- thank you for sharing. I have to admit the Israel/Palestine conflict is something that continues to confuse the heck out of me- maybe this book would be helpful?
No, you will probably still be confused like I am! But it did help me understand the nuances of how the rest of the world viewed Jews after the Holocaust, and how hard it was to create the country/state of Israel.
